– Case Overview
Client: Oldfield Outfitters
Industry: Retail
Services Provided: Web Development and marketing
Project Duration: 6 months
The Challenge
Oldfield approached us because they were experiencing difficulties in maintaining their existing Shopify store, it was running on a legacy theme that was out of support. This was affecting day-to-day tasks, making it difficult to update pages, leverage Shopify 2.0 apps, and affecting SEO and performance.
Key Challenges
Control over design and content
Frictionless experience for international customers
Technical debt built up over years
Our Approach
We began by understanding the client’s objectives and existing processes to identify the most effective solution.
Our work included:
- Identifying new tools that could address existing pain points
- Advising on potential new Shopify themes
- Reviewing admin setup and processes to streamline
Throughout the project, we worked closely with the client to ensure the solution aligned with their goals, adapting our approach where necessary to achieve the best possible outcome.
The Solution
To address the challenges, we implemented:
Shopify 2.0 Theme – We moved to Prestige as the platform to build the new site on, this improved SEO, performance and brought previously custom tooling under the theme – adding a layer of support and documentation that was missing before.
Visual refresh – We prototyped a new design based on feedback from the Oldfield leadership, addressing pain points for customers while preserving the familiar branding developed over years.
Administrative improvements – Transitioned to a central Added DNS records to verify domain in Shopify and MailChimp, preventing emails from ending up in spam.
This approach helped streamline operations while providing a scalable solution for future growth.
The Results
Following implementation, the client experienced:
- Enhanced page usability and engagement
- Major improvements and simplification of the tools used to manage and evolve their stores with less developer involvement
- Upgraded multi-region (UK/EU/US) configuration, including pricing transparency, and setup for international duties and tax compliance
Overall, the project delivered a more scalable, user-friendly and efficient Shopify store, helping the client achieve their goal of modernising the platform while simplifying day-to-day management and supporting international growth.
